  • 3 tablespoons (38 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon (11 g) psyllium husk powder
  • 1 packet (9 g) instant rapid rise yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (184 g) warm milk (110°F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons (28 g) butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F.
  2. For the roux: In a small saucepan, whisk together gluten-free flour, milk, and water over medium heat until thickened. Set aside.
  3. In a stand mixer bowl, combine dry ingredients: gluten-free flour, potato starch, sugar, psyllium husk powder, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add warm milk, egg, melted butter, and prepared roux to the dry mixture; mix on low speed until combined, then increase speed for 5 minutes.
  5. Shape dough into balls and place them in a greased baking pan.
  6. Cover and let rise in the warm oven for 10 minutes; then let sit at room temperature while preheating to 350°F.
  7. Brush tops with melted butter before baking for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown.
