  • ½ pound ground beef
  • 1 onion (diced)
  • 6 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 1 can tomato paste (6 oz)
  • 2½ cups chicken broth (low sodium)
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. 1. In a large heavy-bottom pot, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausage, ground beef, and diced onions; cook until browned and onions are translucent, about 8 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and sauté for another 1–2 minutes.
  2. 2. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, chicken broth, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and let simmer for 20 minutes.
